Wednesday was the start of moms week and a NY Rangers road trip, we all know how the story ends but the week started off great with this video;
The team traveled to Chicago to take on the struggling Blackhawks.
The Rangers took a quick 1-0 lead in the first period and boy were the moms hype. During the second, Chicago struck back with a goal of their own and tied it up before going in to the third. With 11 minutes left in the third the Rangers let up and made it rain pucks on Lehner. Igor held up his part of the bargain by making 37 saves on 40 shots. The Rangers ultimately beat Chicago 6-3 with goals from Zibanejad, Kreider, Buchnevich, Chytil, Panarin and Strome.
The mother-son team quickly headed south to take on the Carolina Hurricanes Friday evening. The Rangers once again drew first blood with 3 minutes left in the first. Going on to score 2 in the second and 2 in the third was enough to trump the Hurricanes. Igor once again held his own in net only allowing 2 goals in 27 shots.
The moms finished the week 2-0 and I can agree that they need to stick around for the rest of the season. The team is now only 5 points out of a wild card position heading back to MSG tonight to take on the San Jose Sharks. Every game matters moving forward, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings.
