Breaking: MLB Has Announced the Houston Astros Punishment

BREAKING: Houston Astros GM Jeff Luhnow and manager AJ Hinch have been suspended for one year after an MLB investigation found the team used technology to cheat during its World Series-winning 2017 season, sources familiar with the punishment tell ESPN.

Additionally, MLB will fine the Astros $5 million and take away their first- and second-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 drafts, sources tell ESPN.

I don’t think this punishment is enough. Simple as that, I don’t have a crazy take but the MLB needs to do more. This league can not simply let these frauds get away with just a slap on the wrist. I’m hoping the news is still developing and that more will come out!

No players were disciplined by Major League Baseball in the Astros' investigation. While Mets manager Carlos Beltran was part of it, he was a player at the time and thus was not suspended.

Alex Cora should be banned for 5 years from the MLB. No if’s and’s or but’s! Send him to independent league baseball boys, let’s make it happen.

It is technically not a year-long suspension for Jeff Luhnow and AJ Hinch. Their suspensions begin today and conclude the day after the 2020 World Series ends.

It is still a massive suspension — and considering Alex Cora's apparently culpability, his is bound to be far longer.

Update 1:17 PM: Alex Cora may actually be going back to coach little league in a small town in Minnesota if the MLB drops the hammer on that shameful man. The Red Sox are going to be on the hunt for a new manager, updated your resumes folks!
